Prompt: Autonomous cars may have lives of their own one day, separate from that of their owners’. What kinds of experiences and interfaces would be needed for these future interactions? And with whom would those interactions occur?
Contributions: I worked on the research, interaction and visual design. I presented the final designs to Design Directors at TEAGUE, an agency focused on future mobility.
This was my final project for the Foundations class at California College of the Arts.
At the start of the project, Shalica, Zoe and I took a stab at some blue-sky thinking. What kind of future do we want create? And consequently: what kinds of conversations need to happen to create that future?
For all three of us, we seemed to care deeply about issues around equity and urban planning. The state of local governments in the Bay Area frustrated us, and we wondered if it would be somehow possible for a car to be a public servant, since it was a machine… so didn’t that mean it would be more efficient?
